Severe weather refers to any dangerous meteorological phenomena with the potential to cause damage, serious social disruption, or loss of human life. This can include:

  • Tornadoes: Violent rotating columns of air that extend from a thunderstorm to the ground, capable of tremendous destruction.

  • Thunderstorms: Storms with lightning and thunder, often accompanied by heavy rain or hail.

  • Hurricanes/Typhoons/Cyclones: Large systems that produce heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding.

  • Blizzards: Severe snowstorms with strong winds and low visibility.

  • Floods: Overflow of water onto land that is normally dry, often caused by heavy rainfall or rapid snowmelt.

Each of these events can vary in intensity and impact. Have you experienced any of these firsthand?
